Some WAV / AIFF files are cut off a few seconds before the end of the track

N
Nuno Vitorino

Users have reported us that some WAV files don't play the last few seconds of the track and change immediately to the next track.
We were able to reproduce the issue and we are testing a solution. We will further inform here once the solution is confirmed.
We have launched a solution with 2.5.1 that partially resolved the issue. There are still some WAV types that are not playing correctly. Additionally, some AIFF files are not playing correctly as well and this is related to the same issue. We are working on a fix to be released as soon as we confirm the fix.

I'm happy to report this is now fixed with version 2.6. We have improved the player engine to fix the buffer issues causing this issue and in the process, include native WAV/AIFF 32 bit floating point processing and support for sample rates above 384KHz without requiring any transcoders. This is planned to be released next week with 2.6. Apologies for the delay but we wanted to get to the bottom of the issue and ensure a clean implementation.

Great news!!! Thanks for all your work!

Thank you for your patience. We're also hoping you will hear a difference in sound quality as we removed one layer from the signal path. Let us know once you try.

Yes, this is definitely an issue.

Hello. I am a happy Innuos product user but am also experiencing this problem. Just wanted to add my voice to this thread to request a fix. Thanks.

Hi Nuno, any update on this fix? I appreciate that you are all busy but the wait for a fix for this is becoming unacceptable. Support have failed to reply to my emails and there is a lack of further updates here. Can you please advise on the next steps.

Hi and good day, Nuno. I hope all is well. Any updates on this fix? Thank you.

My wav and aiffs are cutting early. 5-10 seconds before the song ends. I just got the zenmini 3. Updated the software to 2.5.1. Seems the albums I import via cd are ok. The albums imported via usb (aiff and wav mix) are the ones getting cutoff.
Any word on a work around?

So after doing tests, the aiff files that imported via usb are the ones that are getting cutoff with 5-10 seconds left in the song. Wav files that I am ripping to the zenmini 3 play perfectly fine. So I went through the process of deleting all the aiff albums (564) which that was a task in itself! I have now succumbed to re-ripping years of cds to wav on the zenmini. I am commited at this point. 😀

New fix seems to be working, no issues so far, thanks.

Hi, took us some time to solve but we believe we now have a solution for this. We can apply an advance correction via remote session so if any of you could volunteer to test this out, it would help us ensure we got this one sorted for sure. Just reach out via Support and we'll take it from there.

Hi Nuno. I would like to help but am not available until Friday. Please let me know if you still need a test site then.

Hi Nuno. I would be happy to help but I am only available Saturday. Let me know if this would be of any use to you. Regards

Hi Nuno , I have tested the software with your corrections for several hours. I listened to aiff, dsf (DSD) and flac files. And… everything works correctly. Unfortunately, I had no way to check the WAV files. Since I'll be away from my studio for the next two weeks, I won't be able to check it. Probably there will be no problem with WAV files either, but someone should test it. In any case, my experience indicates that these corrections can be implemented in the next update. Thank you for solving the problem and I hope I was helpful.

Will there be a new update (2.5.2) coming out?

Avatar

Stephen Healy

I believe it will be part of a range of new features to come out in a 2.5.5 update.

N

GroovySauce

2.5.1. AIFF files still have the last few seconds cut off occasionally.

N

NP

Started happening after update to 2.5.1. Happens on most AIFF files. Is there no resolution to this yet or is it at least not possible to revert to a previous update? Very much ruins the listening experience.

Using the Sense app, my WAV files (local and from NAS) don't play at all. I press play and see on the track counter :01, :02, 6:31 end of track....with no sound. All other formats play perfect, AIFF, FLAC, DSD etc....

T

Tony Limtiaco

Same cut off issue but with AIFF files on a Zenith Mk3. Worse one was a good 10 seconds before the song ended. Checked and it’s not a Crossfade issue as that is set to None with 0 Duration.

My WAV files (local and NAS) won't play at all.

I had an issue with this aswell. Innuos support solved it by connecting to my Zen remotely. Get a ticket and they will fix this for you.

Hi, I am having this problem with AIFF files which are made om my mac and then imported to my Zen mini . Is there a solution?

Even with the 2.5.1 update, my playlist with AIFF, FLAC and WAV files cut off (~ 5 seconds) at the end and immediately play the next track. This is on a Statement with the upgraded LPS.

I seem to have had some luck with my AIFF files by running coaxial to my Denafrips Ares II, but now I also need to transcode my DSD and DSF files to FLAC. SCRATCH MY COMMENT -- I WAS MISTAKEN. AIFF is still cut short on coaxial.

N

Nuno Vitorino

Re-opening as indeed there is still an issue with AIFF files. For the moment the workaround is to transcode AIFF to FLAC. If you have experienced this issue, contact our Support Team and they can provide you the instructions to apply the workaround.

We've just released version 2.5.1 which fixes this issue. If you find any WAV files with issues please let us know.

D

David Brown

This definitely only affects WAV files. FLAC files play normally.

I can actually see on the progress playing line where the WAV file will end...there's faint gray vertical line near the end, and sure enough that's where the track jumps ahead to a new track.

Thank you..I hope you can rectify this quickly.
