Ability to correct Artist match

When the wrong Artist is selected by the system, we need to be able to change that match. For example, Sergei Prokofiev is determined by Innuos 2.0 to be a punk rocker, not the great Russian composer that would first come to mind and that I need...

Artist match is quite good but there are still cases that the system is confused, especially with artists that are having "wrong" data in Tidal. For example a search through the app for "The Astronauts" only shows a 60's surf band, while in fact the title concerns an 80's post-punk band (plenty of data on the web for them). In this case one can copy/paste into the artist page info from the web and upload a photo. Seems reasonable.

Just updated and tested. Perfect. Thanks so much.

Same happened for me with a different artist, useful feature to be able to modify the artist match, gets my vote!

very useful

The ability to manually change the Artist's profile picture and also the ability to manually not link the Artist with the related (wrong) info that appears in the page is a must.

My Carpenters artist picture is showing two old people as its profile picture and listing it as Gospel. Can I change the main picture on an artist?

Indeed a manual correction would be welcome. Recently I got orchestra conductor Kirill Kondrashin confused with composer Robert Schumann. Also some Russian composers (Sergeï Rachmaninov for example) are -- some times but not always, how odd ! -- automatically changed to the Cyrillic alphabet spelling and I have to manually revert.

Any idea of the timeline here? This is a very visible and annoying "bug" in daily use... A system like in Plex where you can correct the match would be very, very useful... thanks

The possibility to change the matched artist would be a very helpful feature. I would be happy if you could implement this in one of your future versions.

Just adding my upvote here. I too would like an editor option for mismatched artists :-)

Totally agree.
Portuguese jazz singer, Jacinta (various published albuns on Blue Note) appears as a blonde Australian artist;
- American indie pop band, Luna, appears as a doom metal band from Kiev, Ukraine;
- The famous Australians Men At Work, appear as a garage rock band from the 60’s;
- Industrial rock band Ministry appear as a pop/disco group;
- Omnia (celtic music),shows as trance/DJ;
- The Painkiller band (the one that integrates John Zorn and Bill Laswell), appear as trance/chillout music project from Barcelona;
- The Portuguese Paus appear as a Swedish band;
- Placebo (British rock band) are Belgians and play jazz/funk;
- Folk band Quercus (with June Tabor), changed into Czech doom metal;
- Jazz group RED, switch into a Russian producer of Psy/trance;
- Van Halen (hard rock band), shows as a Dutch guitarrist...
and many, many more.

I agree, it sometimes happens that there are several artists with the same name. There is no possibility to change this in the app. Here it would be easier if you could manually edit the artist in the library by giving a selection option for multiple artists with the same name.
Example 1: The US hard rock band Angel: I ripped a CD and in the library appears an English rapper with the same name.

Example 2: The US Psychedelic Rock Band Ars Nova (60's): Here I also ripped CD's and a Japanese Symphonic Metal Band appears as artist.

agree on this. It happens occasionally but then it is irritating you can correct this.

Could we know the source database for artist names, and is it searchable: that would be a great help to fix names. Also after fixing names, the old name remain as empty ghosts. Is there a way to clean these?

Or strange result with Franz Joseph Haydn

Another example with the wrong Mario Pacheco…

Does Innuos 2 have something against Russian composers 😂

Use Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev to get the Russian composer: that works.

M

Thanks. That's a workaround... However, for consistency's sake, I should then include patronymic for all Russian composers... Plus we do not yet have the ability to change composers in bulk within Innuos and I have some 60 albums with this composer, so I would at least have to use some third party software. There is a similar issue with Haydn: I use his full name: Franz Joseph Haydn, but for some reason the database wants just "Joseph Haydn". So it seems the best solution would be to have a way to automatically redirect some names such as saying for "Sergei Prokofiev", go to "Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev", and for "Franz Joseph Haydn", go to "Joseph Haydn"...

The ability to edit artists just as I can edit albums would definitely be a plus. In particular, I'd like to add my own choice of artist photos, but also I'd like to see the French duo AIR where I currently see Koji Kurumatani.

I listen to privately published recordings that have no coverage by public metadata providers. The more I can create and edit myself, the better.

Need to be able to edit and correct (when needed) the artist profile and image. I have a few profile pages and images for certain artists which are not right. A good example (and funny one) is a Christmas album having an artist profile of a satanic heavy metal band called Christmas 🤔😂

The automatic handling of artist photos tends to be a bit shaky (wrong person, wrong age, lousy cropping....). This is particularly true with little known composers and/or musicians. In InnuOS1.4 one could access the system's photo folder and populate it with pictures of one's own choosing thru the Windows Explorer interface to the Innuos server. Can we hopefully expect a similar facility ?
