Elegant implementation. Very useful, but one remaining issue: the slider disappears when applying filters, so it is not available for example for Classical music composers, only for all composers… please make it available regardless of filters applied
Yes much better thank you but would be great if instead of just spots we had the alphabet! Less guess work required. Yes I realise the alphabet appears on touching but on iPhone one’s finger covers the letters!!
Thank you everyone for your comments. Some food for thought. I'll get back to you soon as we are keen to include this in one of the next releases (with a few more goodies :-) )
A side bar on the right, 'always on', quite narrow, with just a few letters visible (A - G - M - P - Z for ex.) When tapping the letter / bar, the bar expands, letting visible all letters (provided there is an artist with the letter, either way letter is not displayed) and clicking on the letter jumps at the first artist name begining with that letter. Very convenient, exist on the bluos app for ex.
I personally think Sonos does it perfectly. Any search puts a very narrow a-z on the right hand side of the screen. Not sure what happens with other languages, but there appears to be plenty of room.
A question for all voters on this feature. Would it fulfill your requirements if:
1. The index would show by pressing a button on the top bar or eventually as a drawer on the left or right side?
2. If there was not index per se but when scrolling you'd get an indication of what letter you were on - this means to go to a certainly letter you'd keep scrolling (fast) until you reach the desired letter
The reason we ask is because some people really don't want this to be visible at all times as they don't use it and then becomes a clutter in the screen - the bar needs to be thick enough for users to be able to use it properly. So eventually a show/hide button would have to be in place . But if option 2 would fulfil the requirement, this could be a good solution. Potentially a combination of both is feasible too - click a button to show the index if you want to go to a very specific letter otherwise keep scrolling until you get there.
Reopening this request focused on adding a quick alphabetical navigation component to albums/artists screen (there is a different request already for tracks).
Currently the above search has too many steps, with a large number of artists/albums the browsing experience is not as slick as it could be perhaps ?
Is it possible that when either artist or album search is selected simply use an alpha/keyboard click which would take you into desired area, this would reduce current three step process down to one. That's a lot of clicks in a daily session. I think something similar is available in Roon.
This already exists. On the artists or albums view, click on search icon and next to it you have an A-Z simbol that indexes Artists/Albums accordingly.
This involves too many stages with large album collection, I have already tried to register this ? the Naim app gives a simple A-Z down right hand side which improves/speeds up browsing experience
Please do note we have to make the app universal. Whilst A-Z works for Western countries, for asian countries this doesn't work. The index needs to contain more entries than A-Z.

With large library it would be nice to search by an alphabet letter for artist or album title.

A combination of the two would be fine. I don't mind scrolling, but a starting point is nice, if your composer is late in the alfabet.

Option 1 is more favourable, option 2 offers little change from the status quo, the need to scroll should be avoided.
Thanks.

I would prefer option 1 thanks

Hey, thanks for that, I was going to ask for the same thing but now found it and it works fine
