Ripping to Apple Lossless

I have close to 500 CDs to rip and want to rip them enjoy them on an Innuos music server. I would also like to be able to use them on other devices in my digital life, should the need arise.

WAV file metadata is not always recognised on other devices and has larger file sizes than modern CODECs offer.

FLAC is not supported on Apple devices without third-party software or conversion/re-encoding.

I would prefer not to add a second encoding to my files so I want my source library to be in Apple Lossless (ALAC) from the start.

I know Innuos media servers can already play ALAC files, but that initial step of ripping hundreds of CDs directly to ALAC takes much longer using other tools, so I'd really like to use an Innuos server to rip once, enjoy on the server, and still have the files play on all of my Apple devices in other rooms without conversion or compromise.

Please add CD ripping to AIFF format with meta data.

Apple doesn't support FLAC? That's disgraceful.

I prefer the AIFF format over WAV. Embedding meta data into the file is really handy. In the years to come if things change will be nice to have all the meta data in the files

We can embed metadata into WAV also, so is similar to AIFF in that regards. The main point of difference is just the compatibility within the Apple ecosystem.

Can you let us know why AIFF would be useful to you in comparison to WAV or FLAC?
